About This Test

What It Measures

This test measures ego dissolution—the subjective experience of losing your sense of separate self and feeling merged with something larger than individual identity. Based on psychedelic research and mystical experience literature, it evaluates three dimensions: unity experiences (feeling connected to universe, merged with environment), identity disruption (loosening or loss of personal identity boundaries), and disembodiment (awareness existing outside physical body or shifted bodily location). These experiences occur through meditation, psychedelics, flow states, mystical practices, or spontaneously, representing temporary dissolution of the normal ego structure that maintains self-other boundaries.

How It Works

You'll respond to 11 statements about feeling connected to the universe, experiencing unity with your environment, sensing merged identity with others, losing your sense of separate self, feeling detached from your body, and experiencing disrupted self-boundaries. Your score reveals whether you maintain a firmly bounded self (typical everyday consciousness), have occasional glimpses of unity, or frequently experience profound self-transcendence where personal identity dissolves completely. The test captures the spectrum from ego-intact to boundary-dissolving consciousness.

When to Use This Test

Take this test if you've had mystical or transcendent experiences you want to understand, you practice meditation or use psychedelics and want to track ego dissolution, you're curious about your capacity for self-transcendence, you've felt moments of unity with nature or the universe, or you're exploring consciousness beyond ordinary ego-bound awareness. Note: ego dissolution experiences can be profoundly meaningful and transformative but require integration. Very high scores without proper context or support can indicate dissociative tendencies rather than healthy mystical experience. These states are tools for insight, not destinations—the goal is integrating transcendent experiences into grounded, functional daily life.
