About This Test

What It Measures

This test measures death anxiety - the degree to which thoughts of mortality cause psychological distress. It evaluates fear of the dying process (pain, loss of control), fear of non-existence, existential questions about afterlife, health anxiety related to mortality, and frequency of intrusive death-related thoughts. This is distinct from general anxiety or health anxiety alone.

How It Works

You'll respond to 15 statements about death-related fears, thoughts, and avoidance. Questions cover reactions to death conversations, worries about illness, fears of suffering, and frequency of mortality thoughts. Your score places you on a spectrum from mortality-accepting (at peace with death) to death-haunted (severe mortality anxiety affecting daily life). Based on death anxiety research.

When to Use This Test

Take this test if you avoid thinking about death, if health anxiety dominates your thoughts, if you panic when confronted with mortality reminders, if you're exploring existential questions, if you're in midlife crisis, or if a loss triggered new fears. High scores may indicate need for therapy - existential therapy, CBT, or spiritual counseling can significantly reduce death anxiety.
