About This Test
What It Measures
This test measures cognitive empathy - your ability to intellectually understand others' emotions, intentions, and perspectives. It evaluates perspective-taking, emotional recognition from cues, and theory of mind. This is distinct from affective empathy (feeling what others feel) and measures your mental capacity to model others' inner worlds.
How It Works
You'll respond to 11 statements about recognizing emotions from tone, demeanor, and behavior; imagining others' experiences; and understanding viewpoints you disagree with. Your score places you on a spectrum from blind spot (missing social cues) to mind reader (exceptional emotional intelligence). The test is based on perspective-taking and emotional recognition research.
When to Use This Test
Take this test if you struggle with social cues, if people say you're 'oblivious' to their feelings, if you're told you 'just don't get it', if you have autism or ADHD and want to understand your profile, or if you work in fields requiring high emotional intelligence. This measures understanding, not caring - psychopaths often have high cognitive empathy.
